Dujiangyan Panda Valley is a world-class conservation sanctuary nestled in the scenic hills of Sichuan, China, just an hour from Chengdu. Managed by the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, this 760-acre reserve offers a unique opportunity to observe giant pandas in semi-wild habitats while supporting global efforts to protect these endangered species.
Home to around 20 pandas, including playful cubs and iconic individuals like "Panpan," visitors can watch them bamboo-munching, climbing, or resting in natural forested settings. The valley also features the Red Panda Forest, where these fiery-furred creatures roam freely among tree-top walkways. A network of shaded trails guides visitors through bamboo groves and native forests, blending adventure with conservation education.
Dujiangyan Scenic Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (2000) and a masterpiece of ancient Chinese engineering, located in Dujiangyan City, Sichuan Province, just an hour’s drive from Chengdu. Built around 256 BC by Governor Li Bing and his son, this 760-acre complex remains the world’s oldest functional damless irrigation system, diverting the Minjiang River’s waters to irrigate the fertile Chengdu Plain while controlling floods
